Ogre Christmas Freakshow

Merry Christmas.  I realized this week that I have never posted photos of my whole Ogre army on parade.

The horde contains miniatures from all manufacturers: Ral Partha, Reaper, Otherworld, Citadel, Grenadier and others.  Ogres, Bugbears, Trolls, the list goes on.

Enjoy the freakshow.

Merry Christmas.

15mm Sci Fi - Soriog Battlesuits (Tau)

With just a few days left for this year I figured I would get these up before Santa comes.  These were finished about 3 weeks ago.  Since I am lazy they are just being posted now: Soriog Battlesuits (aka Tau Crisis suits).  Khurasan has no armor or mechanized forces for their 15mm Soriog range, so I was forced to improvise.  Luckily I had two boxes of unopened 40K Tau Battlesuits which are perfect for the Soriog.

The scheme is the same as my Soriog: Vallejo Shifters Electric Blue/Intense Violet.  Gun Drones make great Heavy Droids in Alien Squad Leader.

Merry Christmas.

15mm Sci Fi - Soriog Air Support

Every alien invader need air support.  I had this thing (a Toy Batwing) kicking around for awhile and in my judgement looked suitably alien enough to incorporate into my Soriog forces as either a Distant Flyer in Alien Squad Leader or an Interface Fighter in Tomorrow's War.

So, after applying the Vallejo Shifters paint (same as on my Tau Battlesuits and Soriog infantry) and some chrome accents, this thing is ready to take flight.

I never get tired of the color shifting......

15mm Sci Fi - Khurasan Huntarr Sseventur Tank REPAINT

Almost 3 weeks ago I decided to do something that I don't do often: strip "competed" models, specifically my Khurasan Huntarr grav vehicles.

Originally they were supposed to accompany my Khurasan Soriog forces, along with 40K Tau Battlesuits.  However, for reasons unknown to me I painted them in a color what did not match the Electric-Blue/Deep Violet of my Soriog forces.  While the colors I used (Green/Light Violet) were nice, they simply were not what I had envisioned these vehicles to look like.

Below is the final product: Soriog grav armor in Vallejo Shifters Electric-Blue/Deep Violet (with a hint of Turquoise/Violet as a highlight).

 Khurasan Huntarr Sseventur Tank

Sadly photos do not do the Shifter paints justice.  You have to see them in the flesh to appreciate their quality.

The electric blue really shows in this photo.

The other vehicles, battlesuits and air support turned out just as well.  I am quite pleased with the results.  Almost the entire Soriog force is painted now (infantry, battlesuits, armor and air support), just waiting on more paint to finish the last two grav vehicles.

15mm Sci Fi - Alternative Armies Large Sadistic Demon Winged Noble Warrior

I have said it many times, when you need something truly bizarre look no further than Alternative Armies.  The Large Sadistic Demon range was originally released back in the 1980s, as 25mm miniatures.  The figures still hold up well today.  These three, Winged Noble Warriors, arrived by accident earlier this year.  Well, I finally made time to paint them up, along with the other demons this week.

Initially I was going to use the range as part of my Khurasan Xenomorph army.  However, they are so full of life and detail what it would have been a crime to paint them in a dark blue grey like my other xenos.  What to do?

The answer came to me while I was painting my GZG Ixx (Vallax in my universe) aliens.  The large curved flat areas cried out to me for some kind of insect pattern.   So, they are now officially part of the Vallax Domination, along with their cohorts (and soon to be added reinforcements).

Alternative Armies Large Sadistic Demon Winged Noble

These are tall models.  Easily the equal of a Tau Battlesuit.  Armed with claws, tail and some kind of bio-cannon they are usable as demonic entities, or some kind of bio-mech.

The color scheme is the same as the Ixx.  I will not repeat it here.  GW Contrast paints worked surprising well on these fellows.

Only their mother could tell them apart.....

The Demonic Dance Team from Dimension X

Shows over.  Time to go home.

I had no plans to paint these guys any time soon, mostly because I did not have an idea on what to do with them.  However, my wife was crafting in my work space and I had nothing to do so I started working on them and within an hour they were completed.  Once the paint started going on they really grew on me and the ideas for sinister plans began to brew in my mind.

In any case, these guys will work well in Alien Squad Leader as either Bio-Mecha for my Vallax Alien Enslaver Army or as Close Flyers for the same force.   Games of USEME, the 15mm rule set from Alternative Armies will likely see these on future battlefields as well.

All in all, another fine example of an Alternative Armies product.
