I have been painting off and on the last couple of weeks. Nothing major has been accomplished though. Just finishing off some odds and ends.
However, I realized that these poor puppies have been sitting in the back of a cabinet for years and never once had a photo shoot. Shame on me.
The rules for these demonic beasts went though various phases. In WH 3rd edition, Daemons were invulnerable to normal weapons. They never made an appearance in regular games, unless summoned by magic. Needless to say, they were extremely powerful, and without magic, impossible to counter. Later versions of the game (4th edition onwards) did away with this invulnerability (likely to sell more of the Daemon model range itself). Daemons became just like other armies in Warhammer: still powerful, but not impossible to stop.

The rules for these demonic beasts changed over the years, going from simple warbeasts, to fast cavalry to pseudo demonic cavalry, getting more powerful with each new edition. My favorite is the Hordes of Chaos version: Fast Cavalry (the only type for demonic forces, and for hounds, this makes sense), moderately powerful, but not over the top and in your face.
In other games these guys pinch hit for monsters and other horrible things, both mortal and supernatural.
